Attuning differences

Let me begin with, asking a simple question first. Were you happy when you were told that now you were supposed to work from home or even study from home? How adaptable are you actually? Do you mind if there is a slight change in your daily routine? The answer is NO, right? But why? Have you ever thought why are all of us so impulsive towards the minimal changes of our life?

The main reason being, we have always perceived changes as a threat, as a misfit to our routine. We all know that change is an inevitable law of nature but still we are very receptive towards it. This should not be the case. One should know that in tough times like this if you are not adaptive enough to the changes surrounding you then you surely can’t survive.

It always takes us some time to adapt but that doesn’t mean that you never do. It is a long process with many stages.

  • Denial: People say that this is actually the first stage towards acceptance. So congratulations you have reached that stage. This is when you deny or reject the fact that some things have changed in your life. They might be major or minor.
  • Reluctance: You know that it has been inculcated in your lifestyle but you are still very reluctant towards it. We are not ready to accept it.
  • Acceptance: After a lot of hesitance you finally accept that teeny - winy reform in your routine.
  • Adjustment: This is the most important stage when you try to fit it in, somewhere between your daily lifestyle.
  • Happiness: When you reach this stage then you should be proud of yourself. Congratulations you have become adaptable towards various situations.

Very often we fail to reach the last stage and start repenting. Make sure you do not do that. A change brings in with itself a new perspective and sometimes even a different you.

You should try and be like a dough which forms the shape that it is molded into. Be flexible and open to modifications. Because in this progressive world one needs to have a 360 degree approach towards things. This doesn’t mean that you become someone who has ‘Knowledge of all but the master of none.’ Try to blend in but still stand out. Be that face in the crowd who is easily recognizable and can easily stay hidden as well.

In the end there is only one way to embrace change. Accept and continue. Because some day or the other you will have to face it. Rather do it now then keep it for later. This may or may not make a difference but it surely will help you grow. Don’t ever forget that ‘Change is beautiful.’
