Life is full of surprising turn of events. The same has happened with the year 2020. This year has seen it all. It has probably been the toughest year for all of us. Now all that we want from this year is a break, a halt, a pause and a much needed vacation.

‘The earth has enough for everyone’s needs but not enough for everyone’s greed.’

This quote has been proved entirely true during the lockdown period. Does this mean that mankind should just take a break from it’s daily activity of exhausting all of the natural resources? After the human race staying inside for all this while, we do have a question to ponder upon. Are we the real burden on mother nature? Are we the actual reasons behind dolphins not coming out of water and the Yamuna river being so soapy? The point of saturation for mother earth had surpassed long back. But once everything got back to normal, are we the same people or have we changed a bit?

Do you think that back in our old normal life we would have ever thought of not disposing off industrial waste in the rivers? Or even thought of carpooling for once? The answer is a straight NO. Because even after the nature giving us chances, we as humans would never improve. All this while that we were in lockdown what we could ever think was when will we get to go out. But what we should have thought of is are we going to behave the same way as before? Are we going to change our lifestyle even a little bit? I doubt so.

This physical distancing has taught us one thing for sure that common sense being not so common anymore. When we see literate and educated people breaking the National Lockdown norms then we surely do have a problem. It is high time that we go back to our roots, we go back to clearly defining what literacy and education actually mean. On the other hand education has proved to be of its actual worth. The front-line workers toiling around tirelessly in the service of the citizens is to be much appreciated. It has made us realize the importance of our physical well being. Next time we should make sure as to where our donations should actually go.

With physical distancing in action sometimes social distancing is also good for your health. Keeping yourself away from your devices, negativity, sulkiness , grumpiness is also essential. Some time for quite introspection is also necessary. This is not for all of us. A few among us need to come out of our loneliness. Sometimes there are people who feel lonely all the time even when people surround them and it is never good to be alone. Surrounding yourself with positive thoughts and positive people is good for your mental well-being. I know the lockdown time frame has’t been the same for everyone. There were very few who had the privilege of having a roof over their head and the presence of loved ones around them. It was a period of gratitude to all those who cared for you. They made us understand the true meaning of happiness and joy.

These are still testing times for all of us but what matters is how you perceive it. Do you take this as an opportunity to rejuvenate yourself or do you take this as a reason to sulk and get sad about what’s happening around you. At last the lesson we all might have learnt is, ‘When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.’ In the end all that remains with us is a ray of hope and faith that things will be fine. But remember to not let this ray die down. Keep it alive within you, with your actions and your thoughts always.
